Well, November has come and gone and it’s time to do a wrap-up of the books I read this month. I only managed to read two books but made a lot of progress on another, I just don’t think I’ll be able to finish it today. Below I’ve listed all the books I read, in chronological order, and a spoiler-free short review. Don’t forget to follow me on Goodreads!

The Hating Game | 3 stars

I gave this book three stars but looking back I think that rating is more a 3.5-3.75. It’s left good memories. I flew through this book and it was super enjoyable to read. It was a classic romcom in book format. But that’s also what I didn’t like about it. It just seemed too predictable, and not in a you knew the guy and girl will end up together way but in an I can figure out all the details within the first 50 pages way. I think the big reveal at the end shouldn’t have been treated as secretive as it was. One of the main reasons I didn’t give it more than three stars is I found the character so ignorant! It annoyed me that she acted so oblivious when she was obviously a very smart person.

Overall this was a very cute story and fun to read. It had a lot of cute scenes and I’d recommend it for anyone looking for a light, fast read, and we all could use some of those. If that’s what you’re looking for then this is perfect. If you prefer a little a story that isn’t predictable though then this isn’t for you.

Turtles All the Way Down | 4 stars

I really liked the story from John Green. Most of his books I enjoy, but this is one of his better ones. I think knowing a little bit of his experience with OCD helped make this story even more meaningful. I liked the overall story and I don’t think it’s what you expect it to be. This was a very good YA story that delved into the intricacies of friendship and thought spiraling. I like the way John Green writes and if you don’t then don’t expect this book to be different.

He gives hope without romanticizing a situation and that was something I found really interesting and refreshing. I do think the setup of this town and the mansion was a little bizarre. There were definitely some weird aspects to the story, but overall it added to the feeling and atmosphere and I think it all worked out to make this an excellent read.

Currently Reading:

This is sadly the same as last month; however, I have made a lot of progress in Dragonfly in Amber! I only have about 100 pages left in that and should be finishing it by this weekend. I’m also halfway through The White Queen. Hopefully, December is a better reading month!
