Hey everyone! I took a little break after the end of the semester and for Christmas but I’m back now.
First of all I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas, or whatever you happen to celebrate. I had a very good Christmas and am so grateful I got to spend it with all my happy and healthy loved ones.
Today I want to share with you my goals for 2016 and how you can build some for yourself!
When I was making my goals I just sat down and thought about everything I wanted to work on in different areas of my life, but I really wanted to make sure they were attainable and specific so that I had a way to know if I had achieved or was doing well on my goals.
My goals for 2016 ended up being:
Run two 5ks: I really wanted to run a 5k before the end of 2015 but started looking too late to be able to find one I wanted to do. So for 2016 I want to make sure I am ready to run a 5k and then make sure I complete at least two. This seemed reasonable to me because I’m in college and working two jobs.
Run for 45 minutes: Another running related goal, but I wanted to push myself past just where I’m at right now. Being able to run 45 minutes sounds crazy to me but isn’t too far away from what I can do now. It’s going to be difficult but I know it’s doable.
Run 2x a week: I had to have a way to accomplish those goals and I figured running at least two times a week could get me where I needed to be.
Lift weights 2x week: I didn’t want to just run, I wanted to be overall stronger and I enjoyed lifting weights during the time I did it in 2015 and I saw amazing changes. I wanted to continue those changes and only 2 times a week seemed like something I could definitely work into my schedule without any excuses.
Yoga 2x a week: Yoga will help not only with my strength and flexible, but helps me destress and I always feel great after I do it. I wanted to make sure it was a priority and something I continued throughout the next year.
Blog once a week: My blog is no longer required for a class but I enjoy doing it and want to keep it up. Once a week was difficult, but doable for my schedule so I want to make sure it’s something I continue to do.
Journal 5x a month: Journaling always helps me declutter my mind and work out all my thoughts but I don’t do it nearly often enough. This is just a way to make sure I do it often enough and also gives me something to look back on.
Work on handwriting once a week: I really want to improve my cursive and handwriting overall. I’ve wanted to for so long but it’s not something that’s super high on my list of priorities. Once a week for thirty minutes is something I can squeeze in though.
2000 in savings: This doesn’t sound like a lot to most people to put in savings I’m sure, but with the amount I make minus what I need for groceries and other things it will be good for me to aim for.
Buy iMac: On top of the savings, I don’t want to spend any extra money on frivolous things. I want to put my money towards something I really want and could use.
All A’s in spring and fall: I made all A’s this semester and want to continue to do something that is more than doable for me. My parents are working hard for me to be able to go to college so I want to make sure I do well and learn all that I can while I’m there.
Closer to supporting myself: I want to start saving and have enough money that my parents won’t have to worry about paying for as much or anything for me.
Bake more: I’ve discovered I really love to make and just want to make sure I do it more often. This goal and the one before are very vague but just something I want to remind myself of here and there.
Try new recipes and perfect 2 meals: I want to experiment a little more with cooking so I can make more things and I want to have at least two meals that I could cook for anyone at any time.
So those are my goals. I would recommend just finding one thing you really want to focus on health wise, personal wise, work wise, and hobby wise. That will give you a well rounded list of things to focus on and improve in your life throughout 2016 that are still doable.
Here’s my spread from the week of Christmas! (I wasn’t very productive with the things I was trying to do)
I used Libbie & Co’s full weekly kit.
